I'm supposed to pick up kiddo tomorrow. I hope it's not like this tomorrow. Not doing 2 hours of that.
Ha Ha. He will love that! It’s weird to think that we are a warm spot in the country right now at -13 F! Cooking some Douglass Fir to keep the house at a comfy 74 inside.
Seen -21 when I got up, at -7 now. High of -3 for today. Big rounds of oak in the OWB, 69 in the house and eating a hearty breakfast with the misses I made in the castiron skillet.
Was 18 when I got up and 28 now with sunshine. Checked 10 day forecast and except for 2 days suppose to get snow. At least we are starting to get a little warmer.
Well we finally warmed up to double digits today.. cause it has too here to snow; another 14” by Tuesday Still 80 inside burning red maple
Not as cold as most areas of the country - and much warmer than it has been the last couple of weeks, but still cool enough to run the stove! Love wood burning heat!
8 with a nasty wind out of the north. Boiler is loaded down with white oak, hickory, and a few chunks of hedge. Supposed to get 0"-12" of snow in the next 48 hours.
-1 currently.... last load of silver maple on till the overnite burn... ... Fun fact the All time low temperature in KC is -23 ..... and Tuesday could possibly get near that....
13 and 74, BL having no trouble keeping up. Possibly blizzard conditions tomorrow night. I carried a extra tote of wood to the house and pushed piles back just incase they are right.
-11*F right now on its way to -24*F by morning according to the experts. About an hour ago I put 3 oak splits in the stove and that’s what I’ll fill it with for the overnight. Gonna find out what about the fuss is about oak because I have never had any to burn before! I don’t have much of it on hand but probably should have been burning some of it for the last couple days, if it’s as great as you people make it out to be
Oak is a great wood to burn as long as it’s dried about three years. This year oak is about all I have to burn and there are days I have to go back to the oil furnace cause it’s too hot with the oak. Never pass up oak.
I just realized we were supposed to have snow, ice and other winter stuff last night and early today. Not one drop, flake, hailstone or sleet fell.
