Got up to 9* and 71* inside. Got the stove cranking and we got it around 80. We are going to be out of wood soon. About a face cord left.. they we go to fuel oil. Should be able to get more wood taken care of this year. We do have about 2 cords of ash split from last year but we planned for it for next year so it isn't going to be touched till then. Chaz looked for some enviro-bricks ar TS but they sold out last week.
Oh look, FHC generosity strikes again. Well done Zap! 19F & cloudy here, some snow tonight & tomorrow, then the bottom drops out on temps again. Just loaded up with Oak, Ash & Elm.
99 lbs was giving a reading "It's -9" A little while later "it's -13" And not too much later "It's -17" OK! Quit reading the dang thing!
Even though it's cold out, the sun has been strong so I'll start roof raking the snow off the edge of the roof. I'll also be taking a bunch of snow off the small rise on the south side of the driveway so when it starts the thaw/freeze cycle it's not running on the driveway.
36 degrees and very foggy and rainy here in the mountains of western North Carolina. I'm burning large splits of very dry white pine just to keep the indoor humidity down and flames in the stove for ambiance. House is a mild 65 degrees. Perfect for sleeping, but I can't sleep... I'm saving the hardwoods for when it gets cold again.
-8 and 65 this morning. Decided to skip reducing coals! Loaded up and running. Looks like we got another small shot of the white stuff overnight.
