Aunt Jemima has a new name....

PepsiCo announced this week that it has officially changed the name of its Aunt Jemima pancake and syrup products to Pearl Milling Company. Aunt Jemima was always my favorite pancake mix and syrup when I was growing up, I hope nothing changes with the "new" name.

What's next? Where does it end? Maybe Lucky Charms cereal gets pulled because some college kids from Boston decide it's too vulgar? Is Cap'n Crunch too insensitive towards the seafaring community? Then what? Is MAIN STREET not inclusive enough to all the sideroads on the outskirts of town and therefore must be renamed NONDESCRIPT OFT-TRAVELLED ROAD #473 in order to become more culturally acceptable? What strange times we're living....

 

Glad not to be a kid growing up now a day.

 

I've been calling Lucky Charms, Fortunate Clovers for years. And Captain Crunch is Admiral Crunch

 

My uncle showed me the news paper from the day he was born. Big headline "Japs Surrender!!!" I thought that was hilarious.

 

In 50 years you'll be able to tell some youngster how we used to use the term "man" or "woman" to describe another human being... but then that youngster will turn you in to the authorities for uttering those derogatory words and you'll be sentenced to "reeducation" and hard labor for the rest of your days.

I figured they would've tried out the name Inuit Pie for size first... Nope.

 

I can only imagine what the mandatory sensitivity training will be like in the next decade.
