Very true about trigger springs. I used a JP enhanced trigger spring kit on my AR. Using mil spec trigger kit, t gets as good, if not nicer than drop in triggers that were $150. However, most still get better with some use.

Nope, in fact the only ammo I find that is actually decent priced in supply is .22 LR. Most of it is about 7-9 cents a round but I managed to find some Russian ammo for 5 cents a round. Heavily waxed Junior stuff. The label says brass case but I'm thinking Brass Lined. I'm hoping to just get a .22 that will shoot and feed it. For what I paid for it, im not going to be terribly picky at it. If its one of those ammo choices that teaches about patience, gun muscle memory (working a bolt action or pump is my goal to get next) and teach how to maintain a gun with that wax in a clean up. On the other hand, a revolver sounds like an option too. Playing with the .22 area so I may ask for some help on a decision. Really need to get out for options and try them out if I can rent them.

9mm is some separate entity. (They say you never have enough ammo but the cost of it today shows that "enough" is a relative term and your shots are more calculated shots) We have a new .40 M&P that I got more ammo for about a "decent" price in relation with today's costs. My range ammo for this stuff largely outweighs the PD ammo by about 100:2 I believe or close enough. Normal standards you want, what 500-1000 range rounds to learn how to use that gun? Then separately any specialty ammo, experimental or whatever is purely decisions on our own. No doubt more expensive by about 50% than range if not double that. Check out GunBroker and look at .410 ammo. Suffering Succotash! , I love shooting it too but golly. You could sustain a mortgage selling that today.
Yep. That's in some kind of rapid decline too. Even finding lead in those unknown spots is good to know. X ray equipment fyi.
At some point this ammo shortage and or hoarding will subside. I'm sure many of us still remember waiting in 2 hour lines on your odd or even day for gasoline.
There's also a low melt temperature lead substitute called Cerrobend that would probably work if you were really in a pinch, although my only experience with it is for metalworking.
a lot of WW are made of zinc these days.. not sure if it's worth the effort? Batteries are still lead though.. I'd think cerrobend would foul the barrel.
I can honestly say that I have more than enough 25acp ammo. My dad had it, now I do. I found a couple hundred 7.62x39 for but bad price, so I'm good, but I want to shoot more with my AR-47, so eventually I'll buy a case or spam can of x39 ammo when more to regular priced ammo comes back in stock.

The father in law gets wheel weights from a local tire shop, melts down to cast his own jigs for striper fishing. Works well for that, I figured it'd work for some hime made boolits. I don't know anything about the zinc...
