I got a couple of poplars felled, bucked and skidded this weekend. I have a 35" dbh one that is still needs to come down.
That's some nice poplar. When the poplar around here gets that size you'd have to go a long ways up from the stump to find much good wood.
Tulip poplar grows amazingly well here, it's definitely a major focus of timber harvest. I'd say it's the most common species I see on logging trucks on the roads.
One of my customers just had a lot cleared had 3 loads of logs hauled recieved .60 bdft for #1 and .30bdft for #3 it is paying well now JB
Harvest 2 more poplars today. Not huge diameter, but each one gave 3 nice straight logs. Chainsaw and tractor therapy.
