Picked up small sled to try as a wood hauler. My brother fabricated the towbar. It will also be used for hiking into the cabin when the driveway isn't plowed.
You gotta like old age, I read "small wood hauling shed", I thought cool idea, a shed you could move around.
That gets the job done. Many years good luck with it. Any thoughts to put lash points on the sled? 2-3 on each rail.
That's pretty much what I use when there's more than 2" of snow on the ground. ATV and the jet sled and I can haul a lot of wood, in a little bit of time. The sled packs the trails down when there's weight in it. I use a 10 cubic foot agrifab trailer the rest of the time when there's no or little snow.
Thanks for the clarification. That's good news it wasn't yours And yes, the rigid hitch is key. I tried it once without the hitch behind the atv on the bigger sled. Results from that day.... it was fine until there was a down hill section Here's with the rigid hitch. I've got a little smaller one just like yours with the rope for at home use.
The other day I dumped a sled full of fishing gear including the bait when the wind blew the sled to the side and the rope caught a tire lug and warapped around the axle. Ridged mount is a must! one other thing is to try to avoid dragging on pavement especially loaded. Maybe that’s obvious...They do sell a runner kit but you have to drill holes to mount them. For me that wouldn’t work I want the gear to stay dry.
I know it was a bad idea I have seen it many times but my buddy insisted it would be fine. Sometimes you gotta let people see for themselves. my bait and gear was in a sled rigid mounted to another wheeler
Not to highjack you're thread but for anyone who's cheap like me and doesn't want to afford the bought rigid hitch, this works pretty darn good. Homemade Universal Tow hitch for portable shacks
Tried that with a snowmobile and a sled towed with a rope years ago , let me tell you the end result was not good. Talk about learning the hard way. Rigid mount = good Rope = bad
