Wasnt looking for another top handle let alone a 201 but i couldnt pass this up for $375. Pawn shop find. Barely used with a light weight bar (12") to boot. Still had the OPE price tag. Got some questions on these again FHC. First, no primer bulb? My 201 (pictured) rear handle has one. German made? Is that significant? Thought all recent Stihl's were made in Virginia? The question now is do i keep the 194T or sell it to fund my possible 500i acquisition?
I vote you save 1k and use the rest to get your 460 extra sausages. It would stomp a mudhole in a 500.
I think as a general rule, the stihl pro saws are made in Germany. The homeowner saws are made in VA.
Nice work BSB! I’d sell the 194t t raise funds for a 500i. The 500i should pull your 36” BC better than your 460! I’m currently trying to sell my 026 and 260 to raise funds to get a 400i . If the 400i ever gets here!
I have my original (circa 1992, bought when i was 24) 026 being worked on as i type. FHC member. My 024 is going bye bye as i recently learned 024 & 026 powerheads are identical in weight. Have a friend who wants it. He just acquired a nice used 026 which we're trying to figure out a barter/trade. I may end up with two 026's. I'd keep your 260 Pro as its a nice 50cc saw. I may sell the 460 as its my "worst condition" saw. Have you seen any 500i's for sale up your way? I have heard of the 400i. How many CC's?
Nice find Brad! I've run a ported 500i & was impressive, but I'm not sure it's the saw for a 36" bar. Others may think differently.
I think I ran that same saw, I don't think I would like it with a 36" either. 36" is 90cc+ territory. My 394xp wears a 24" with an 8 pin and pulls it with authority. It will pull a 36" ok with a 7 pin, but I can't see an 80cc doing it as well, even ported. There is no replacement for displacement! A 394/5 will take a 660's lunch money any day of the week, and this is coming from a Sthil guy. If a guy wants something that will pull a 36" bar they need to look at a 395xp period.
201tcm top handle does not have a bulb. I wonder why your long handle does? 261’s are made in US Good deal on that saw.
Listed on FBM and had it for $400 (which was even a deal) OBO took my 350. Had to pay the tax too. Long ride but i was going that way to buy a bar anyhow.
And for the next trick? What I want to know is does Mrs. buZZsawBRAD know , or did you just line it up next to all the others. As long as they are all the same color no one will ever know.
Not this time. SHHHHHHHHHHH!!! She thinks i went after a 36" bar which i did. I was going that way anyhow...seriously Hope she doesnt check the odometer!
Thanks! Dont know. You being around them a lot would know more than me. The few times ive used the rear handle i recall hitting the bulb on a cold start. It has the easy start and was almost effortless to start. I like the switch that automatically goes back to run. None of my other saws have that. Still getting used to it.
Bought my 194 new back in April. Great little saw with 12" bar. You can get 14" or 16" bar. Have you ever used a top handle woodsman416 ?
No. I've borrowed my buddies Echo top handle a few times. I don't "need" one that often but....oh who am I kidding, I don't "need" at all but I like the idea of filling out my four saw plan!
Hey BRAD' There is always some room for you on the shelf in my shop. Come-On down I promise I won't mistake it for one of mine.
