48°, I let the fire die out, gettin a little too warm! Snow is melting fast, this is the outside woodpile today.

24* light snow got 3" - 4" loaded OWB with Sugar Maple and Red Oak for the night.

 

It's 23.9 tonight with a load of ash going in the Lopi.

 

23F now, dropping to 12 they say. Spent a nice sunny day moving about a cord of wood under the boiler carport for the coming of the end of the world/polar vortex. Found a nice Ash stash to mix with the Oak I've been burning, so should be good for the near future.

 

Since we heat from the basement, there are times when the constant heat from the pellet stove works best at certain temps. The wood stove isn't going to give you the constant heat throughout the night.

If the wood stove was upstairs it would be a different story.

 

Impossible to sit in recliner in stove room at 84 for longer than 2 minutes and remain conscious. Trust me, I’ve tried it before

 

I brought another pickup load from the barn to the garage the other day before I ran out in the garage! Normally, I don’t do it until I run out, but it never fails that I end up having to move wood in a snowstorm or some kind of inclement weather. Have a little over a face cord, but if there’s weather on the way, perhaps I’ll grab another in the next couple days

 

So it’s still snowing...27” and counting and 28f here in the Poconos.

20 here and still snowing. Ash and Cherry still holding from last night. I’m not sure how much snow we got total yet because I haven’t been out. But I think more that I was wishing for. I’ll be heading out about 7 to put the L39 to work cleaning things up.

 

Dropped to 2 overnight. Bright sunrise and has warmed up to 4 right now.

 

19 and 70. Feels damp outdoors. Stove is purring along on mixed hardwood. Anyone else had any luck turning hardwood into Balsa?! Haa. Apparently I can Some of last nights load was feather light. Can't really put my finger on what wood specie it is. Makes my very dry Pine seem heavy...... It makes heat either way. Just goes to show, no use being a wood snob.
Another warm day today. Tomorrow looks not so nice! Winter weather returns. Snow and then Brrrrr.

Well my dad is 75 yo and gets cold easy. If living room gets below 76. I get the “are ya going feed your black box??” Hint
