26, starting to snow. Black locust and cherry keeping room at 73. No where to go today, so I'll sit and watch the fire and snow pile up.
Don't let Well Seasoned see that can of Yuengling!!! He'll be running from New Hampshire It's hard to find up there, I bring it up from here when I head his way.
As stated before, we get nothing here like some of you folks. It seems we got much more as a kid. We have had some years where we had some hard snows but it never last's long, usually melts is a few days. Last year we had nothing for snow, hell it barely hit freezing a few times. I was just in Tractor Supply this morning and the same Snow blowers have been sitting in the same places since September. If they predicted a Blizzard, they would have sold them all in 10 minutes. There not a HOT commodity here. God rest his Soul, I wouldn't have the one we have if it wasn't for my FIL when he passed. It was new in the fall he left us for a higher calling, and I haven't ran a complete/full tank of gas though it. I did run it dry before storing it last year and fresh gas in it yesterday. Started right up, And it's "Electric start"! Who knew... Yeah, yeah, don't make fun of the Jersey Boy who knows $#!T about snow blowers...
It has raced up all the way into the low 20's F here and I am burning #2 fuel oil. Stove is still at Woodstock- it is done and crated but I have not yet had the opportunity to move it from the truck into the house. Woodstock has been great about holding it until I can be ready. The good news is that 1) oil is relatively cheap at $1.69 / gal. and 2) my wood supply does not seem to be moving much at all! On the up side, it looks like we have quite a bit of snow on the way tomorrow and Tues. Twelve inches to a foot as I heard it.....
Going through things here I found one of my in-laws old receipt for fuel oil. They paid $0.15 per gallon back around 1960.
I just looked and it seems to be hovering right around $2 / gal right now. These are discount dealers with no service or contract, which is the lowest price vendors. And I cannot believe no one has commented on my 'twelve inches to a foot' prediction! C'mon people, I am working in the cold out here.....
I remember buying a tank full of #1 for .189 per gallon back in 71. Just over $50.00 for a tank full.
