I'm interested too Woodwidow. The only thing I've ever done is just take the fat and scraps from deer and elk and brown them up in a big skillet on my porch. When that's done, I portion it up in little baggies for the freezer and put a handful of that on the dog food for as long as it lasts.

I try not to judge people to harshly but, I to , don't understand how someone can just abandon a pet

I feel the same way HD. He's a good boy with a nice personality. He just needs a stable home and if that's with me, awesome. If it's with someone else, that's fine as well but at some point I'd like to get some resolution in terms of what's gonna happen with him. Of course, at this point, I'd vote for him to stay with me.

The owners, after not contacting you and asking you if you'd take care of Judgy for a while, prolly will re-appear and want him back as tho nothing had happened... and, OF COURSE, you would have been taking care of him... :picard: Hope it works out the way you'd like.

@loon I still think we need to be able to like something several times in a post.

I just dry thinly sliced beef, nothing on it. Freeze it first, then allow to thaw slightly to aid in slicing thin. I'll cut big squared off pieces with a large chef knife and then use a bread knife to get thin slices. Remove large pieces of fat. I save the raw trim/fat and add it to the dogs kibble a little at a time. Lay the thin 1/4 inch slices out on cookie cooling racks with a cookie sheet under and put it in the oven as low as it will go with the door propped open for 4-6 hours, turn the slices several times, or use a dehydrator if you've got one. I look for roasts that have been marked down for quick sale every time I'm at the store, saves a couple bucks. It's cheaper than buying the commercially made products, it's 100% meat! with no additives and you can be sure of the quality because you made it from human grade meat. I feed kibble made from human grade food also.

I carry some in my pocket all the time. It is easy to break/tear off a small chunk and the dogs love it. Make sure you remember to empty your pockets or you may end up with holes chewed in your pockets, don't ask me how I know this:whistle:
