Welcome to the FHC Jeremy Anthon :handshake: Well you definitely came to the right place! If you want to learn and want to laugh youll get that here. Great yard, great fireplaces and great shop.
You definitely earn your firewood with that chain and winch set up. Youre a man on a mission and have caught the firewood bug.

yeah the pictures almost don't show how steep that incline is. I've tried cutting the logs up in small sections first and then pulling them up with a rope or chain but half the time the round, once cut, would just roll to the bottom nearly into the water which made more work for me in the end. Also, my footing isn't the best standing on that slope and working the chainsaw. Had my foot slip once while trying a cut and now I'm a bit too nervous to do any more bucking attempts in the gully. So it's the slow but safer path to just winch them up until I can deal with them on level ground.

I hear you. I quit cutting on bad slopes some time ago. I have a terrible back anyway but one day I was cutting along a creek. It was chilly but just barely thawing. That made any bare ground slippery. Wasn't paying close enough attention and slipped. Had a difficult time making it to the house. Fortunately my wife was with me so she helped me to the atv then took care of the tools. Still was a slow and painful ride to the house. Be careful on those slopes!

My current score is on a slope with bare dirt and with the inch of snow i said no way until its dry. Its like banana peels with the bit of thaw.

Its been nice, dry and frozen for a few days here, noe that we have some "normal" Winter temps. It gets some nice afternoon sun there so the inch of snow is melting. Sun did come out here.

Loon, I like it a lot for what I do. I got it back in 2016 when I only needed it for limb trimming and to cut a small dead tree in our yard. Now that we are on this property I'm pushing it to it's limits really. not a lot of power when i start getting into the +14 inch stuff so i have to go pretty slow on the big cuts. I switched to a 16inch bar instead of the 14 that i had and that's helped but I really need a bigger saw. just haven't wanted to drop $ yet but maybe later this year or early next i'll upgrade. any recommendations?

Keep your eyes out here. Some of the folks will put theirs for sale out here. Also watch for the GTGs as folks coming will generally allow you to test different saws out.

My little animal. my mom got him a chainsaw to match mine. It's battery powered and has chainsaw sounds and a plastic chain that spins when he squeezes the trigger. Too funny!

Of course the youngsters come first before the animals. Good looking young man and I'm sure he could never be a handful at times. Already has a good start as a wood cutting partner!
