Well, got some time to work on the red oak I cut a while ago, sharpened up the chain this morning and headed out.

Cut the trunk up into 24in rounds.

    Then the fun started

    KIMG0296.JPG
13 splits off the bottom round

    KIMG0297.JPG

    KIMG0299.JPG

    16' x 4' x 24". - 1 cord

    Only 1.5 rounds I couldn't split

    KIMG0300.JPG

Then I cut up one of the bigger limbs and loaded that up and headed for home!

And my shoulders say they are not happy with the work they did today:rofl:

I've been breaking down red oak rounds about that size, for a few years now. Splitting is such an enjoyable activity.

Nothing cuts and splits and stacks like red oak. It’s the king for a reason

Boy you ain't kidding, I had a hard time sitting a few of the rounds up on end to split they were so heavy.

That's some nice looking oak! Got to love it when they are dead like that, these rounds are very wet and heavy.

Love splittin red oak. Some good size splits there. Even nicer when you can split at the score then bring right to the stack!

Nice looking firewood & work for sure, now if you wouldn't mind just stacking in the empty row near my boiler it would be perfect. :DIt was a great day to be outdoors here for sure!

Mine too. Not sure we've "met" but it looks as though we're neighbors! Welcome to FHC.
