Where's the 500i ?

They are out there now...

 

I got a chance to run a ported 500i just over a week ago. Very impressive saw!

 

They are, but still hard to get around here. I went into waiting list in November.

 

I can ask my dealer if they can ship tomorrow. If so, I know they have a couple more available...

 

Thank you. I just picked one up today, so I am all set. Stihl specifically bans dealers from shipping out of state. I found several in other states, but by contract to Stihl could not ship them. Regardless, looking forward to the weekend.

Heading in tomorrow to pick up. Now I just have to decide whether I want a 20" AND a 28" OR do I just get the 25" and call it a day... Hmmmm....

 

I went with a 28. I have a 461 with a 30 and an 880 with a 32 on it though. Very excited to run it.

 

My 562XP ran a 20" and it did 99% of what I wanted it to. So, I was thinking of a 20" again and a 28" for that occasional big red oak that I'll drop. I'll likely decide when I get to the dealer tomorrow and put everything in my hands.

There is a 500i on FBM for $1800 here in CT. I PMed the guy and he wasnt a Stihl dealer. What is the MSRP on the saw with 28" bar?

 

Brad, if you're up for a drive, my dealer has two more. I'm thinking you'll likely get one with a 28" bar for around $1300 or so but that's just a guess. I can put you in touch if you like...

There are a few on eBay now for 17-1800 from folks buying at MSRP or lower and reselling. I'm not sure if the buyer would have a warranty in that situation though?

 

Im CADed by all the hype for this saw. I have three OPE dealers (Stihl) within 15 minutes of me and two have had one saw that went quick. It is tempting to take the drive and get one.
Do i need one...NO, do i want one...YES!

I would get at least a 25" but if you have some other saws, I would up it to 28" but I am long bar fan, myself. However, if I was going to buy another saw like the 500i, I would just buy the powerhead unless the dealer had a lightweight bar. Then go buy the Lightweight bar I wanted, like a Tsumura 28", or if you want a 20" get it with the 20" and then buy a longer lightweight bar to have.

But that's just me.

 

You will freakin love it and wonder why you held out for so long. Tell the boss firewood sales are record breaking and this saw will increase production 50%!
