A bright sunny 28F this morning with Ash splits and Black Cherry shorties and nuggets throwing the heat. As I walked outside to feed the chickens I could actually smell the cherry burning and it made me crack a smile Enjoy your day, folks.
16* here this AM 70* in the house. loaded the OWB with a load of Ash, Maple and Red Oak yesterday afternoon.
26 and sunny. Haven't seen much of the sun this winter so enjoying that. On Sunday I loaded the boiler about 2/3 full of black locust just to see how long it would last. I just checked and I should have enough to get me to tomorrow AM if I want to really burn down the coals, but I'll load some more this evening.
8f / 71f. We had .5" of light snow today. After using the Regency i2450 insert for almost 2 weeks now I can say it has become the primary heat source for our home. Our furnace is set at 68f and it is only coming on a few times in the morning, and again a few times after a 9 hour day at work before I get some splits burning up to temperature. I could turn the furnace off, but the house would be a little too cold in he morning for my wife once the outside temps are below 15f...that is unless I was getting up at 2am to stoke it. I am curious to see how it does with temperatures in the -20f range. I will be posting those updates when that happens.
Dropped to -5 overnight. Windy outside now but the high is predicted to be 30; thats good. 2 right now.
23* this AM keeping warm with Ash and Red Oak in OWB. Stuck in a snow globe got another dusting overnight.
We were in the low 20's this morning, I loaded up the Liberty with the last splits of Cherry we had inside. We should be burning Yellow Birch, Ash, Sugar & Red Maple and Ironwood for the rest of January. For February we have two face cord of Beech & Sugar Maple left from last year and then if we need more we will still have more of the above and Cherry.
27* with a real feel of 18*. It feels colder to me with the wind. 68* inside. With this wind my stove is like a rocket. I don't dare put more than 3 good sized splits in it or it'll take off. The snow we had last night is drifting nicely. the roads tomorrow morning on the way to work should be eye opening.
5pm loaded up the OWB with Ash, and Red Oak suppose to get down in the lower teens tonight should be set till late tomorrow.
