Hey, I know a bunch of you live up in NH, VT area’s.... what is the closest GOOD ski area to Mt. Washington? I want to take a rd trip with the wife to see Mt. Washington (amazingly never been there, always wanted to...), and then go skiing somewhere in the area. By “good” skiiing, I mean something with some expert terrain, double blacks, glades.... not just a little bump with a chair lift like all the resorts in the NY Catskills.

    Thanks in advance....

Wildcat is across the road. I call that close. It is a good ski area, I skied it many times when I was younger. No glades then don’t know about now. Fairly steep.

Good luck! Mt Washington seems to generate its own weather. Clear weather in Conway. Cloudy on top of the rockpile.

I hope you catch it on a clear day.

Yeah, it’s a wild ride tree killer.

Wildcat has some steep runs, most of the are groomed only on half the side. When I was in scouts we used to go for the weekend and sleep in the lodge. The groomers would let a couple of us ride in the snow cats with them I got to watch one winch itself down the slope because it was steep and they said it would loose traction.

Cranmore in Conway. Not huge but a fun mountain. Has a gondola and chairs. Lots of yuppie types in that town though.

My daughter works at Shawnee peak. Yes things are weird getting lift tickets from what she says. She is ski patrol so doesn’t have to deal with that.

Attitash is good. I never cared for Breton Woods, never been to Mad River Glen either.

Saddleback in Rangeley just opened back up. It used to be good. Or sugarloaf if you desire the ultimate yuppie experience.

Jay is fun. Especially the ride to get there, even better if it is snowing.
