Hmm...I dunno...maybe...could be either of y'alls really...but I guess if it was yours it would need to be broken up in blocks...to represent your lil stashes here there and everywhere...
Could be. Maybe mine as they were stacked! LOL!!! Sometimes i wish i didnt have to stack. I think its my least favorite of the firewood making tasks.
12 cord not including latest score, and here I thought I was decent with 4 cord and counting. I'm not even in the amateur league. LoL
Only hardwoods is trees that got planted on private property/ houses/lawns etc. Most of it's elm. I'm trying to up my game on getting in on the locust/maple but there isn't an abundance of it.
That is a biggun Brad! Seems like that size always has a hollow butt, but there's a lot of meat on that one. Not too shabby for a January hoard! That should keep you in splitting work for awhile.
Nah we both put our time in. We go about it differently. I see your posts and think, that man is a wood magnet. You find em everywhere you go. You often have to carry them to the truck, load em, unload em then split by hand and finally stack. My volume may be more but I would say you have to put more into it physically as me. Also, as already stated, I have help splitting. I also have a tractor with forks and a splitter with a log lift. Those are game changing pieces of equipment
Hit the score again late this morning. Tree service not there yet. He had pulled the few logs out of the woods. Bucked them up and loaded. Had a mound of smalls i bucked in back. Those and a mound of nuglies filled the PU. Dropped those off, loaded for a delivery and went back . Lots of SS in my future. They hadnt taken down the sugar maple yet and had to wait for him. He had it down in less than a half hour. 16" DBH tree so half cord. Left a nice long trunk for me to buck. By the time i loaded it was dusk. Sugar maple is a lot HEAVIER than BL. Had to half a lot of them to save the back. Saws L to R 201 (just bought today), 261, 361, 460 Tally so far im guessing 2.5 cords. Still a mound of smalls to buck and load, plus some nuggets. Couple BL dead fall into the woods. I asked the homeowner if i could take those and got the okay. Probably Tuesday. Ill post pics.
That was the only "bad" log. Rest of trunk was good. I love splitting BL. Some of the dead ones are gonna be tough.
For sure. His little bobcat was great for moving logs, brush etc. If i had a big area for working on wood id probably get a splitter. For now ill pick and chose primo easy to split wood and no oak.
Havent had a chance to split any of the score. Slow work week so i went and split a cord+ of the BL today.. Fuzzy pics from cheapo cell phone. Mound of splits had a face cord there already from a prior score. Ill split the rest of the BL and maybe all the sugar maple tomorrow. Have to set up a stacking arrangement.
Yes. Few times propped up. It was splitting rather easily which is the norm for BL. Ill get better pics tomorrow. Forgot the camera today.
