I have several echo saws and my all out favorite saw is the 680. It is my go to saw and I've been running it hard since 2012.

Yup, run it for 5 years, then send it for porting, then you will have 5yo saw that runs better than new, for same money as the completion for stock saw now
    What's not to love?!

Echo's get a lot of love, sure seem like good saws for the money, but if you're wanting a pro style saw, maybe try the makita 6100 like my buddy just bought over the echo 590 or 620. It cuts pretty much as quickly as my makita 6421. These makitas are dolmars.

The makita 6100 makes more power and weighs less than the echo 620 and can be had for almost the same price as the 620 echo.
    It starts super easy.
Edit, check with huskihl , he might still have a nearly new 6100 for much less. He did when my buddy was looking in Fall. My buddy just wanted a brand new one.

I agree with Nixon, pick up an Echo 7310p for the price of a 562XP. Or grab a 620P/PW, I have a non wrap and absolutely love it. She’s a torque monster that never gives up. I’ve had her doing everything from felling to noodling to milling.

My wife did mention “thought you were going to try a Husqvarna?” Seems like the echo 620 is the best bang for the buck for sure. Her response was “well it’s worth a try” sold a few cords and have the cash ready :makeitrain", so it will get ordered tomorrow.

all this with 2 of the 3 Stihls down in the shop. And lots of wood to cut. :headbang: I understand stuff breaks and needs maintenance, but these remind me of a bmw in terms of finicky. Im hoping the old 031 will be a good runner after fuel work. Thanks for the guidance guys! Much appreciated.

Yea, we had an M6 for about a year. Got quoted $15,000 for a check engine light. Got it fixed ($1,200) and sent that thing down the road fast.

Pulled the trigger with saw supplier and a new echo 620 with 24” bar. Will look into the stihl bar adapter and figure out how I might want to do that. Excited to cut with it. Thanks guys!

My wife says she doesn’t understand why I need 17 saws. It’s only 7, but it gives me a goal.

I really like the Echo Red Armor mix oil too. Been using it at 40/1 in all my ope for a while. It leaves a great film and doesn’t leave much carbon on the piston top.

There’s no real number of a goal. But in the last couple of years I’ve kinda got hooked on tinkering with saws. So I’m just gonna keep trying to gather up as many of the older classic huskies as I can. Saws are a lot less costly to fix up and own than some other items. Plus they are pretty good property if you need to unload a couple for cash. I think I’m at ten now.... up from 2 just two years ago. WE DO LIKE OUR SAWS
