My dad didn't buy a hydraulic splitter until I moved out. Otherwise, double bitted axe and two wedges and a sledge hammer. Oh and my pony and mud boat!
The elevator makes a big difference you can focus on splitting and do the handling later the multi wedge splitters make a pile in a hurry !!!! JB
Are you making firewood or toothpicks? 18 splits out of a 16" diameter round?!? A 16" round for me would be split in half and then laid on top of each other and split again. So a total of two cycles for 4 splits.
