Last Sunday morning I'm asleep and am awoken by the wife jumping out of bed and yelling. I was half asleep and to me it sounded like our kid playing around in the office on the office chair. This is what it actually was white pine branches snapped and took some sugar maple branches with them. Just getting around to posting it now. Some of the branches were as big around as my thigh.
Just de-limbed the worthy stuff tonight after work and burnt all the small branches. Ill buck and split it tomorrow and snap a few pics.
Just the gutter and a few fence boards. Cheap table that was out there got flattened too. Wife and I were shocked no decking was broken.
In my top 3 trees you don’t want within striking distance of anything you value. Glad there was no serious structural damage, or injuries.
I've been running point for my folks, since a piece of red maple decided to fall. No damage to house or car. Just the deck. That log is about 8in diameter. Life happens. I'm glad to see no serious damage to you place, BuckeyeFootball
Glad you are safe other than some minor damage. The white pines limbs are brittle and a common sight around here to see them broken off after a heavy wet snow or ice storm.
We had a bunch of pine trees fairly close to the house. In one particular storm a branch broke off and came through the garage roof. Since then all pines that could reach the house have been eradicated.
I had a similar situation during a violent storm in August. The wrath of the Red Oak Overlords was upon me and one came crashing down into my backyard. Out of a hollowed out limb scrambled a couple baby raccoons, chattering incessantly. I heeded their warning and decided I better burn red oak at least once a week to appease the overlords towering over my house.
