So, back to the "stay at home" rules like last March.
SOme places/states here are getting close to the same as last March as well and the new variant is just starting to pop up in places.
It's looking more and more like 2020 and 2021 are both going to suckors.

Uggg. We are lucky. Iowa and all midwestern states surrounding us have seen significant reduction in Covid cases and hospitalizations since November.

I follow Dr. John Campbell from UK. His updates address the status there. These lockdown strategies are hard to take seriously. So many people are deemed essential (they are, of course) that there is little change in human activity.

my friend was featured on a BBC story about his participation in the Oxford-AstraZenica study.

Godspeed to all in UK. I hope the social damage created by this next phase of shutdown doesn’t exceed the attempt at harm prevention.

We're apparently #1 in the USA for a couple days running, not a good title to have considering that most countries have lower numbers.

No restrictions, no lockdown, restaurants are fully open, bars are open, gyms are open.... Do whatever you want, masks are usually optional.

Oh, all hospitals are at 150% capacity and are telling people to stay home if they are not going to die. When you're ready to die, come on in and they will have a seat in the waiting room for you because all the beds are full. One hospital here has taken over the cafeteria, NICU, lounge, parking garage, all the training rooms, and is currently converting any wide enough hallways to become covid treatment areas. And they are still turning ambulances away.

    Go figure.

(I'm not advocating anything, but there has to be something between shutting the world down vs letting people die en masse)

Yes there is, wear a mask, and social distance. Stay out of crowded areas, especially indoors.

I just hope we get back to somewhere near "normal" by next holiday season, this season was a stinker for the most part. But we are healthy here for now and wishing for all of you to be also.
