I should have mentioned that we have forced hot air for central heat. Propane for hot water and cooktop.

Fuel oil furnace is used only for heat. Hardly used

Twenty five years ago mine saw the lack of a heating bill, that's all it took. Have been keeping $$$ out of the oil company's pockets every since. Only advise I have is once she see's the valve of your work, she may be at ease with being a wood burner. Like letting her pay for the heat bill out of her disposable income. No pain- no gain.

My wife rolled her eyes at my wood obsession at first. Once she saw the dedication, orderly piles, abundance of heat, and cost savings she quickly changed her tune. Now she brags about how much wood I have to anyone who’ll listen.

Mine doesn’t complain one bit but that’s because both me and my 9yo son sell. She gets to watch his investments increase and she gets projects around the house and trips paid for by me.

My wife did mention my wood stacks were getting excessive when she struggled to open the car door in the garage. The warm fall and December allowed harvesting several dead/downed/bark free slippery elms with less than 18% moisture which needed to be stored indoors for immediate burning. The two cords of c/s/s red oak in the drive were also mentioned as an "issue" in the late fall since they were in the way of snow removal. I had extra time to hoard firewood when all the campgrounds were closed during the first half of 2020 for the virus and so my firewood inventory is at a 15 year high. Firewood is stacked in every nook and cranny because maple and bitternut need indoor storage. 15 years ago, my neighbor with 20 acres of forest logged and gave me the tops for firewood which helped clean up his place nicely and resulted in stacks of firewood everywhere.

I redeemed myself by starting the furnace on slippery elm every morning and relocating the driveway red oak to the backyard. The driveway gets more sun while the backyard has too many trees for good summer drying.

She enjoys the steady heat flow off the wood furnace which keeps the winter chill at bay and she agrees that harvesting firewood kept me out of her way when the campgrounds were closed.

I forgot about that scene of that movie. I don’t believe that Rammstein was playing the background though. Lol. Maybe it was it’s been awhile since I saw it.

LMAO. Not going to go there.

My stacks are out of sight for the most part, though right now you can see a little bit of the ugly blue tarp through the trees, so she doesn' t say anything. She wouldnt anyway. She sees the savings and likes the fire too much.

Yeah, that was edited in. As you said, Rammstein was much much later than 1985. Oh, my old DJ days at the radio station with my industrial music program late in Sundays.... "Du Hast" was a staple...

In the past 10 years I think we’ve had the oil man out 3 times. My wife sees the savings and that’s good enough for her! She loves wood heat. Although the past year or two she has been wanting me to slow down so we can move. Which I wood happily obliged, but these monster red oaks keep popping up. What’s a hoarder to do! :hair:

Turn the furnace down to about 50. Don't bring in any more wood. When she complains its cold. Inform her that this years wood quota is used up. Unless you can haul more wood home to replace the overage its gonna get cold in here.[/QUOTE]

The right bracket on the end tag got deleted somehow, so technically there is no end tag.
If you don't run out of edit time you should be able to edit it back in.

Screen Shot 2021-01-04 at 5.30.34 PM.png this needs a right bracket
