Broom handle but a thick one from the old days I found laying in the shop. Bolt, nut, grinder, and file. Two beers later. Store bought vs beer thought. Seems to work just as good and I tried some big rounds. Hey, it was out in the shop doing this or hanging inside with wife all day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's pretty much what I ended up doing, but I ended up using an old axe handle. I never had a good one though, so I wasn't sure if it was any good or not.
Looks good to me I have the same Logrite pickeroon, but I do want a shorter one with a slightly different shaped hook for around the woodpile. You’ve inspired me to make one. I’ll wait til after I get done with the power tools to drink some beers though.
I ordered new tips for my Logrites. Kept the old ones and couldn't throw them away and made a long handled for unloading the truck. Can reach all the way to the last rank in an 8' box.
I like the idea of a longer one to get wood from the bed. I use a dump trailer but I have to climb up in it to move scrounged wood back because I can’t reach it sometimes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As I picked up a sledge hammer handle to replace one in a head I had today, I noticed the post hole digger handles. With a good 4 ft length and 3/8” holes already drilled through the end, that may be one of my next experiments for a longer pickaroon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice. I might try making one; I would scrounge the handle in the woods. I did that with my rake handle that broke. I could have purchased a new handle but went into the woods and found a small dead cedar and cut it and brought it home. A little work with the hatchet and sureform and I had a nice handle for the rake. I like the idea of doing it like the old homesteaders use to do.
