Sears craftsman 17 year ol LT1000 lawn tractor snow blower attachment fix where belt keeps slipping off. I tried a new belt but only helped a little and this year the new belt would not stay on at all! This same 42” snow blower attachment is made by MTD for Sears for the last 20 years! 2 new bushings on each side of the tines. One new bearing on the large pulley and 2 new small pulleys. Also new skids and shear pins plus a little more grease in the gear box. $425 including labor. Works like new now! The new seat with arm rest and the steel Diamond plate I cut and welded on to replace the rubber foot pads are holding up pretty well. See pics
Hello In my case the belt as jumping off near the snow blower end. Now if the belt as jumping off the large pulley in the clutch pack there is another not only fix but modification to make it even better! Believe it or not, This fix envolves 2 locking bearings, the block bearings part # UCF204-12 used for the 2 augers in the Englander 25-PDV or 25-PDVC wood pellet stoves! Amazing! See video
Just this past fall, the Timing gear let go on the Tractor and it costs about $550 to fix. So I got $975 in to it to fix it up but if I purchase all new 42” craftsman tractor, bagger and MTD snowblower attachment at Lowe’s which they still make, would be approx $3300.00 so hopefully this was a good investment?
Hello The street plows just went by. So I just tested the blower attachment with a couple inches of very heavy wet snow that would make the belt jump right off if there was even a slight problem! This time it worked flawlessly.
Hello After getting the blower fixed by replacing all the bearings AND the belt, it needs some protection with some paint! After wire wheeling and cleaning with acetone, I used VHT flat black from the auto supply for the primer. Then I used Stove Bright Satin Black for the finish coat! Thanks The last step was to apply the Next Gen with the micro fiber cloth to keep it from rusting & peeling after a day or so to let the paint dry. I wanted to try the Next Gen last winter but certainly not to a rusty old blower! This Next Gen also keeps the snow from sticking, so we will see how that works next season. The model & Serial number on the Snow Blower is important to order the bearing parts to fix it!
