Hey guys, as I posted in the splitter upgrade thread last week, I'm considering doing the same as the OP there. I have a 2 year old DHT 35 Ton that's in as new condition. I put an hour meter on it when new and without walking to the barn (always stored indoors), I am saying it has about 27 hours of run time on it. Any idea what to put it on CL for? We bought it right before moving and for the life of me, I can't remember the cost or find the receipt. Thanks for any thought you all might have...

What's on it for an engine?

I would guess $1,000 to $1,200, but I could be way off too. It's new, but now out of warranty.

Sounds like the same unit I have. Seems like I gave $1200/1300 for mine new. Probably 4/5 years ago
So $1000 doesn’t seem out of line but don’t know if you could get that. I seriously doubt you could around here

With all the recent sales, I’d guess more in the $800 ballpark, but much depends on demand in your area and, realistically, $1200 if the right guy. Only takes one but sometimes it takes a while to find them.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. The good news is, I don't need to sell it and upgrade... and CL is free. So, maybe I pop it on there and try. Worst that can happen is I keep using it.

I paid $1500 for a 28Ton version three years ago with fewer hours (they split like one cord). It was so new it still had the log length decal on the splitting surface.

I probably have similar hours as yours on mine now and it's still running well. That Kohler is a good engine as long as I start it without letting it sit for too many months. $1300 asking price is very fair.

I took a few pics today so maybe I'll pop it on CL now. I agree with the $1300 number. I think that's going to be the one I run with. Of course I'll get about 20 calls the first day offering $700-800... :picard:

FWIW, I recently sold my 2010 Speeco 28T with ~250 hours on it for $1,000. It had just the run of the mill 1450 Series Briggs on it.

    This one right here:

Interesting. What's your new machine? Reason for upgrade? I'm having a hint of second guessing myself on this one. I do love new toys but not sure I'll get improved performance from the 3 options I'm considering...

    -COUNTYLINE 40 TON-

The 9.5 sec cycle time drew me in. I also liked the commercial Kohler motor. Out of the box I got under the 9.5sec cycle time....like 9.2sec.

Wow, that is impressive for sure. It also happens to be on my list of 3 replacements which also includes the Swisher commercial 34 ton and something or other that's overpriced from Iron and Oak. The price on the Countyline is by far the best of the 3 for sure...

The sucky part is, like almost all big box store splitters these days, it's made in China. It made things a bit sweeter when I ended up getting it for $800+tax due to some very minimal shipping damage. Most would not have even noticed it.

25 gpm pump too, that's impressive. I didn't know the Kohler came with ball bearings on the crank. Another plus.
At $800 you got that for a steal.

Yeah, $800 bucks and it would already be in my barn. Regular price is 2k.

The thing is I bought it brand new in the crate for $2,000 minus a 10% off coupon I had. It wasn't till I got it home, assembled it and happened to glance at it from a distance at the right angle the next day that I noticed a slight tilt to the beam. Everything went together and it works as it should. The beam is just tilted a wee bit and hardly noticeable unless you know what to look for. I called TSC and sent them pictures. I was hoping for a couple hundred $$ off. They ended up giving me WAY more off than that. They gave me the option of replacing the whole thing or keeping this one with a steep discount. It was a no-brainer to me! At first I wasn't even going to call them......and my GF thought I was nuts to do so and thought they were going to laugh at me. Glad I did though!
