One of my helpers, Richelle mentioned last week that she had applied at MIT. She has a Zoom interview with them Saturday. She is tired of high school nonsense and will graduate a year early. I think it is due to hard work outdoors, with a little 2 stroke exhaust thrown in. Her sister has a phot selected from a local contest to be placed in a fundraiser calendar for our women’s shelter. Both are so talented.
Hope she gets in! Cambridge will be a big change from Indiana. Remember, there are local FHC'ers around if she needs help or info.
Midwinter Thanks. Her big challenge will be her view of things being in conflict with so many in that area. At the beginning of a research report, she admonished an unethical teacher with "its your job to teach me how to think, not what to think".
Update Richelle had a good interview Saturday. Kenzie has been inducted into the National Honor Society. and I managed to put on matching socks.
I'm glad you got the matching socks, cause I so needed that good laugh! And of course glad the girls are doing well....but you sir also deserve an award!
Update today. Richelle wasn’t accepted, but not denied. She is on a deferred status. I guess there is a round 2 in which about 4% in that group are accepted. She has been accepted at a pretty prestigious smaller college that is strong on STEM.
Praying for GOD to open the doors that HE KNOWS will be right for her. Congratulations to y'all both for jobs well done.
One of my boys got the same news yesterday. He’s been nervous all week and now has to be nervous ‘till March. We’re pretty happy he made the deferred status. About 700 were accepted yesterday. It’s a reach school for nearly everyone. I do think the interview process was helpful. Not all take advantage of it.
My nephew was one of the few students Bryant Business College has ever allowed to transfer into their program after spending his first two years in CC after not being accepted at Bryant initially. He graduated Bryant with honors. Sometimes you just have to keep your dream alive and take the road less travelled. In the end it doesn't really matter so much how you get there.
She is taking it in stride. She and her sister came out today to moved Holden house number 2 to the woodshed. Richelle operates their Deere lawn tractor and keeps the lawn mowed. I threw her on the Kubota, telling her is is just a larger version of her mower.
A young person who's into shooting and has a strong work ethic is an American treasure! Nice job Richelle and Sourwood! It's MIT's loss if they pass on her. Our oldest missed out on her aspirational first choice also, but the school who took her was thrilled to do so. They made it very advantageous for her financially, and they have a great neurology program where she is thriving now in her second year.
