I had two of the NOS 665s left, Randy wanted one so I shipped him a carton of two, one for him and another for him to play around with to see what he might be able to get out of it. Given he had never seen the quad CP cylinder off a 665, this should be interesting. Oh and I also shipped the take-off 665 cylinder I bought from Shep, JIC he had more than one Idea or something catastrophic happened !

So we will see, he thought that the numbers may come out close to the numbers for a 681/7900.

Dexter, your UPS guy is busy today, your saw is still on the truck, everyone else in the first shipment has theirs already. More go out Monday. Not doing any saw work for the next couple days as it is my wife's birthday weekend!

When it's a personal saw (Randy bought one), then I think he can make arrangements :)

I left a note with my number and he just called.. :( He is leaving my house now and can't leave it..

But...... He has a pick up at 4:30 about 4 miles down the road. So I will be en route here directly. He was a nice guy and said he would make sure I got it today.

I love having a good working relationship with the FedEx, UPS, and USPS Delivery guys. My USPS guy goes out of his way for me all the time. A little "Tip" or gratuity goes a long way in today's world. :)

Mind you; Randy did NOT say anything about when, he only said to ship them! Additionally doing pictures and a video greatly extends the time line. Those "Mastermind Meets" posts take probably 5-6 times as long as the actual work.

When beginning to port a known saw like a 372 where you have already developed a porting formula goes a lot quicker than porting a saw you have never seen before. You first have to measure what is there (rotational timing), then you have to try to figure out what the engine designers had in mind when they designed the saw. Once you think you have that figured out then you need to come up with a plan as to how you might be able to improve on the original design. Once you have a plan in mind, more measurments to see if your plan is possible given the geometry of the cylinder. Then comes the really hard part, you have to alter the cylinder a non reversible process which usually goes in stages on a saw you hve never seen before. You do a little, put the saw back together and run it to see if your plan is moving the engine in the direction of your plan. And so it goes, an iterative process until you get the gains you expected or the saw blows up and you start over with new/expensive parts!

Just grabbing your Foredom and grinding away is asking for trouble!

Man I'm so glad you guys got the notifications fixed.

I can see me posting here a lot.

AS is past it's prime, SawHawgz is my favorite place to bullchit with my buds, the Treehouse is fine for climbing interests......but I need a place to talk saws with guys that really love saws.

Kevin's site is fine too........but I can't get used to the format.

If it wasn't for the trading post over at AS, I wouldn't visit there anymore. Plenty of knowledge here and everyone is much friendlier. Nice to see you Randy.

If you can figure out bees and porting you ought to be able to get used to it! We even put up a porting thread for you!

I've added three people to an ignore list on AS in the last few days. I've been a member there since 09 and never thought of using that before a month ago.

It took awhile, but I know we were chasing good members away because we didn't have an email alert in place. I NEED email alerts. I like the real time aspect as well.

Glad to see you back bud.

I never use email alerts on any sites. Not even my own. So it was no biggie for me.

We fixed the place up a bit thanks to @Grizzly Adam and his technical expertise. Lots of new gadgets including some smileys I know you'll enjoy!
