I just sucked up a piece of EDPM into the snowblower auger while clearing in front of my stacks. First time I've ever jammed it like this, its wrapped around the auger about 3-4 times. I need to figure out how to release the tension on it to remove it and keep my fingers intact.

No worries Mark , it happens a few times every year. The microbursts are the crazy ones! I should try to find a thread here with pictures in it. One year it blew out one of our windows, and several (newer homes that did not get the extra trusses etc, have had their roofs blown off :bug:

Lol my buddy caught the dog cable the first time he used his new ariens he said it was bound up tight! One co worker caught the spigot on the side of his house pulled the copper pipe through the wall and wadded it up in the auger both said things were bound up tight! Be careful!

I was able to safely get in there with a utility knife and cut it free. Much easier than I expected.

Glad it went OK. One of my neighbors went over the Sunday paper once. It took him forever to clear out, because there was nothing to grab.

Could definitely have been worse. I was helping a friend last year clear some plowed banks and I asked them three times if there were any 'obstacles' in the way. They were adamant that nothing was there however I sucked a 6x6 into the front blower on the tractor. They looked me and said 'oh yeah, I forgot that was there...." Obviously they were kind enough to get me a replacement link for the chain and even bought me an extra chain as an apology.

Glad it was an easy fix for you.

The horror freight one I listed shows this "
    • All steel 1.27 in. diameter tubular frame"

It's only needing to last 2-3 years it seems.

At the 700 dollar range you can get a steel one for less that we'll hold what he needs. Not a car but it doesn't need to hold one. I think the steel one another friend put up was $500. It would easily hold 2 ATVs plus other stuff.

How thick is the piece of plastic? Maybe use a loping shear? Something with longer handles.

Edit, I see you cleared it.

I need to take the splits I brought over on the trailer and put them in the shed. It's only a couple of gorilla carts worth, so I'll do it by had and not fire the tractor up. It's downhill to the shed any way.

I don't know how you do. You have to have a real frontier constitution to live with those conditions. No lawn, no trees, no drinkable well water, no growing season. I know a lot of folks who won't live in Maine because of our harsh winters. Helps keep some of the riff raff out.

another option for two ATV's would be two Rubbermaid sheds? The one I use for holding my winters wood now used to be at my moms house. I kept my Raptor 660 in it for several years. I think its 6X6 put them back to back, and you are good to go. There is room for other things as well.

I went through 3 shear pins in 5 minutes. Noticed one side was broken, changed it out, then within a few minutes I sucked in the EDPM and broke both of them.

Knock on wood, but it's been decades since I have broken one of those.

First ones Ive ever had to replace. I've mostly stuck to pushing snow around, not blowing it though.

Not much for trees in that part of Wyoming.

Yes, totally different world here, even at my last home we had all amenities of suburbia like I grew up with, just a crazy steep road. Didn't intend to end up here but we're making the most of it.

    Coincidence?

I recall moving my wife to Wisconsin from Oregon in January 2004, stopping in Wyoming in the middle of nowhere to clean my windshield and put a few extra gallons of gas in the 4runner. This had station was on the side of a hill, with a pretty big rock formation behind the station. The wind was ridiculous. There were no trees at all. Just scrub grass. I left the truck running, wife stayed in the truck, and the wind made it feel like I didn't have my winter jacket on.
