Got a little fresh snow last night, it's doing a light rain most right now. But there is work to be done!

    Cut, split, load, stack, repeat!

    First load all done.

After I posted "Little night work". I woke up with a little head cold, so this is the first time back out cutting, put me behind were I wanted to be.

I was offered 5 trees to cut for the wood at work yesterday as well, I was going to cut them this morning but the roads were slicker then snot on a chickens beak so decided not to pull a trailer on them this morning.

    Well back to cutting.

Being part of this forum for a few years now I should probably plead the 5th on that haha.

But yes it is. Growing up my dad never had a supply of wood, he would cut a load a week so that's what I knew and that's what I was doing. But after joining this forum I have been trying to do better, I actually had wood left over last winter and would love to be on a 3 or even 2 year plan... I will get there. But working up to 80 hours a week in the summer, 50 in the winter. We have 30 acres of hay of ours I do, 11 horses we ride, game and breed. 5 summer pastures to up keep. We also breed German shepherds. Plus the never ending always growing list of projects, yard work... Ect ect. About the only time I can cut wood is in the winter and 3 year supply for us is 30 cords give or take. So I end up burning wetter wood then I would like some times, but the house is warm and the misses is warm so that's what matters!

What you need to do is have a GTG at your place. Looks like you have enough area to let the FHC horde cut split and stack a couple dozen cords in a weekend. Do you heat with the fireplace, or do you have other burning appliances?

I used to use a fireplace with a heatilator blower. It's hard to get ahead with a FP. Then I switched to an efficient insert and that really allowed me to get further ahead by not burning as much.
