Ive tossed around the idea of getting an 066/660/661, but honestly am very satisfied with the performance of my 460. Its rare to wear the 36" bar and rare i cut big (24"+) wood.
Just PU a decent used 024 today!
Ive heard nothing but good things about the 500i too.
    Will you get a 500i Chud ?

That is true and when i call a Ace Hardware and ask about Stihl Chainsaws, they get a person that knows about them, also Ace Hardware stores that sell Stihl saws have a service Dept. with trained people to service the Stihl products.

I went to my local Husky dealer there was only one Husky saw in showroom, i asked about the 553, sales person asked me if i wanted the new one with fuel injection i then knew he did not know anything about what he was selling.
I asked to see the service Dept. and maybe meet the saw service person, was told he was busy working on lawnmowers i noticed around 15 Husky saws on floor waiting for service.

I thanked the man and quickly left.

I know a lot about how both Home Depot and Lowes hire their repair people, you take an online asessment if you pass you get an interview, all they want to know is are you willing to work nights and weekends, pass a background check and your working on peoples repair items.

Just ask someone working at these big box stores in sales or in service a question about fixing a non starting saw see what your told.

I rest my case. Trust a Stihl Dealer.

    How about a husky 2100 cd, 2 MS 460, a 036 pro, Poulan 505, and a Poulan 3750.

If I ever have a grand and change burning a hole in my pocket. I’m a big fan of the new lighter saws.

The Ace hardware stores around here (as far as i know) dont sell any Stihl saws. The local OPE dealers carry either Stihl, Husky, and/or Echo saws.

I worked part time for a shop that is well known in Cheyenne. I did all the chainsaw work there and used to do all the warranty work for Menards and Murdochs ranch store. Some times I would see some from Lowes but I do not recall seeing anything from Home depot. 80 percent of the time the saws would not run or start worth a crap because they were tuned way to lean. EPA.

Maybe the Stihl dealer in your area has good people but I have seen some here that were a joke. I know I have worked on stuff they said was fixed. It just depends on where your at and the dealer you have there.

Haha, she would be madder than a 3 legged dog trying to bury a turd on an icy pond if she spent 1300 on a saw.

They sell them at blains farm and fleet as well which is definitely a big box store. I’ve ran both brands. Currently running husqvarna, but would buy a Stihl in a second if it fit my needs best.

I sure can't disagree with that, you have to meet face to face with the dealers repair persons and ask questions, if you don't feel thay undersatnd or just don't care to answer questions, no matter if it'sa Stihl or a Lowes it's your decision if you want to leave your saw with them.

It has been awhile since I was in a Blains Farm and Fleet but if memory serves, they mostly carry homeowner Stihl saws. I don't remember seeing any pro saws.

You are correct. They carry the homeowner grade and the mid/farm grade as well. I don’t know of a big box that carries pro grade for either Stihl or husqvarna, but there may be somewhere.

I don't think a Logger or pro tree trimming person, would be dealing with a Home Depot or Lowes, and i feel they that both stores understand this, so the homeowners and farm&ranch brands are what you wil find.
