My local tree man called me yesterday and said he had a few pieces of norway maple and a lot of red oak. I wasn’t going to say no. Their cutting drifted to the long side so I will have some cookies when its all said and done. Good timing as I’m about to finish clearing off a 4 pallet ‘deck’ and have a place to stack it.

The bigger rounds are 24+ inches. Lots of square and rectangular splits. Hopefully they will be straight this time. Last load he dropped had a severe twist My third drop this fall. One more load like this and I’ll pretty much have replace all that I’ll burn this year. Keeps me on the 5. year plan. What I’m burning now was split in June of ‘16, 5 summers dry.

Awesome, wish I could get treework drops. I got only one and that was because the tree guy was cutting my neighbor's tree.

The first time I got wood from this guy was a long time ago when he was cutting a neighbors tree. He knocked on my door and he's been bringing me wood ever since.

I asked the guy, nicely, if he could bring me wood but he won't. First, if the tree is a large oak, he takes the butt log and sells it. He uses a bucket truck; these trees are standing that he takes. The rest of the tree beyond the butt log, he dumps at the town dump! He won't give any to me because he says it's too nasty of a load. It is pretty bad. The workers throw the limbs in every time one hits the ground. So, the dump trailer is full of an intertwined mess of (non-commercial) logs and limbs of every size. When he dumps, it comes out like a sewed-together brick. If the workers would NOT put in small stuff from the getgo and do that later, he would have some loads with wood only but doing it the way they do it (to not waste time when stuff hits the ground), it's a mess to extract firewood size logs/limbs.

I spoke to two different tree services locally but it was years ago.

The first guy's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and said "Sure! I need a place to drop off all the branches, that'll be great!" Wait a minute says I; I don't need any small stuff, I don't burn the branches I can get now.

"Well, you have that OWB, you can stuff it full of branches."

"No thanks, I'm looking for firewood, same thing that's in my stacks now. I don't want the yard to start looking like a brush pile. Thanks anyway!" I did not want to become a garbage dump for branches.

2nd guy sells whatever wood he gleans from his services. Charges the people for cut down and removal....then processes it at home and charges for the same wood once more! Yeah, he's doing it right!

Yawner , you have to remember that phrase "time is money". That is why those services load the entire trailer with whatever lands into the yard first; meaning small stuff. I don't know of any that do all the work first and then start the cleanup. If you have that many guys keep them working while the tech is in the tree and have them cleanup as soon as possible. Then, move on to the next job. It just boils down to good time management. Don't quit asking though, you'll find one yet! Then, someday, we'll be reading and looking at your delivered score! :handshake:

Very nice Paul bunion Keep that tree service company pampered and doughnut filled!
