When splitting wood you see some interesting differences in wood. Same Hickory species two different trees
I took the day off to get some things done. The wife's truck is in the shop for service. I wall papered the kitchen this morning. I only needed to do half the kitchen walls and above the pickwick type wainscot. It went quick as I prepped a lot and it was ready to go. The Mrs. will be surprised. She thinks I am working on something else. I worked on the new kitchen table. It should be around 7 feet long and maybe 3 feet or so wide. Breadboard ends. I used re-purposed legs and I have old wide pine flooring for the top. Probably head up to the cold attic to do some more new bedroom framing work soon.
Had some good news today. When covid hit the VA stopped sending bills out. Since I have meds I get every month I knew my bill would continue to grow. I was putting $25 towards it each pmonth. Called billing at Buffalo VA and the bill was almost $400. Time to start paying more. Then heart attack. To ER, ambulance ride to Buffalo VA. Then 3 days in hospital. Wasn't looking forward to this bill. Especially since a social worker told me the ambulance wasn't covered. If you get a big bill like hospitalization if that bill is not paid in 90 days, balance is sent to collections. When I found that out I went on a budget plan so in the future that wouldn't happen. So last week I called up there to verify and talked to Carl. Checked balance and now have an additional $1800 on there not counting previous balance. He stated that it shouldn't be on there. Put me on hold and when he came he said he talked to his sup who now was talking another dept to see what they could do about it. Called back today as. I wanted to see where I stand. Happened to get Carl. My balance is ZERO. He made it happen. I know that my ER visits came to $8800. Not counting the doctor which should also be covered. We are happy.
Speaking of Santa, yooperdave , did you say last Christmas is the last year you'll be playing Santa in long term care facilities? Guess it would have to be virtual this year?
Passed a state exam for a license today. Application was sent in June 3its usually a quick process but due to the pandemic it’s been a long wait. I felt a bit stressed as my employer needs me with the license to bid on jobs. It’s a school night but I’m going to celebrate!
Hoarders I have not mailed anything beyond a letter or card in years and years. I need to mail our taxes, ~10 sheets of paper. I have "Forever" stamps. Put 3 on? I cannot believe I don't even remember how much it is to mail a packet of pages, and I don't know what a "Forever" stamp is worth.
