Anyone use something like this to load larger rounds? I've missed some good quality wood because I couldn't get it in may trailer. Curious if this would be worth it

I was also interested in one of those. I have some big stuff at a dump I would like to work up. I, being the cheapskate I am, was looking at Harbor freight. Also with the way some beds are built now, I think I would get a reinforcement plate of steel to put on the other side of the floor mounting. I could see some stress on the floor if the weight is not directly perpendicular to the frame of the lift. Like if you were to drag a round to the truck.

I could have used one of those today....and a buddy who didn’t mind rolling them to the truck. Those green rounds are hefty!

I’d reinforce it too. I’m sure I would find the biggest round I could and end up ripping the bolts through the bed:rofl:

There's a fellah here that has one on the back of an old late 60's (?) Chevy pickup...think he is in Cali, IIRC...can't recall the user name right now...

Put a 1/4 or 3/8" steel plate under the inside bolts & drill the outside bolts right thru the truck frame. Put an electric winch on it & you'd have a great set up. campinspecter uses a spike in type hook to pull rounds up & on his splitter that way I think. Real back saver for sure!

The spike with an eye on it, is called a Log Dog out here and we usually find them in a wire rope store.

We had an electric hoist on our work truck, used to lift full oil barrels in the bed, worked great.

I've always wondered if a hoist was better. I had this set up in my old pickup and remounted it to my small trailer. It's moveable to any 2" receiver. But I'm still deciding whether it's better/easier to hoist or drag.

They work pretty well. Ive got one on my splitter with an electric winch and one that slides into your trucks receiver hitch that works decently.

I worked for this company many years ago and know they build quality cranes, might be more then you need but thought i would offer it.
