Best dog I ever had, and will have, as I think he spoiled me to the point I could t get another. He was 13 1/2 years old and has watched the cutting, splitting and stacking of hundreds of cords. He would grab a splitter scrap and back off a little from the racket and join us every break. He had what the vets thinks was a stroke a passed peacefully at the vet yesterday morning. His name was Cooper. I am wrecked and have been trying to let him in and out of the house all day and he’s not here. 58B21FB2-9D5A-4A70-990C-63DCE0F7F609.jpeg F2D8669D-0027-4010-A867-EBAA04F5E90A.jpeg 5C6B751F-49F9-4FDD-8B7B-D18A80B588FB.jpeg

That is sad. My dog Murphy turns 13 next month and my wife especially dreads the day...

Cooper sounds like an awesome dog.

Greg for the first time in most of my life I am without a lab running around. Chocolate is my favorite. My avatar is my last 2 with my daughter several years ago. The chocolate got cancer and had to be put down at a too young 11 1/2 in 2015. He loved splitting wood. He would take a piece and bring it to you to stack when told. The black was 14 and 6 weeks when it was time back in July. We believe he may have had a stroke as well. Lots of strange things happening the vet could not pinpoint and he finally a few days later could not get up. All of us in this house went through the “we have to get home and take care of he dogs” phase and still do at times. They are our lives. They teach us many things. They are truly our best friends. They are impossible to let go of. I know how you feel and understand it all. I’m sorry for one of the biggest losses of your life.

Sorry to read that. I feel for you. At one time, we had 6 rescue cats and we're now down to our last one, he's 12 ... I'm not looking forward to that day

I am so sorry. They are family. The get in your heart, then take a piece of it when they leave. We lost our Lily last February (yellow lab). I loved her so! I know your pain. My wife got us a rescue pup last September and I was indifferent towards him at first, but he has wormed his way into my heart now. Still, I will always have a place for my Lily there.

Sorry for your loss. Cooper sounds like he was a great dog, I know the pain you are in all too well. It’s been almost exactly a year since I had to put my boy Kaiser down and I still think of him everyday... the bond between humans and dogs is really amazing; its part of who we are, going back tens of thousands of years.... just like our fascination with fire!

I understand how you feel. Had to put my cat "Sammy" down back in 2016. He was almost 15 and i saw him born. He was like he kid i never had. We did the same when the cat was no longer there.

Greg...Sorry for your loss, Cooper will be waiting to greet you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge!

Beautiful pup, I don't know you and your family, but I do know that pooch lived everyday of his life knowing he was loved by an incredible family!

So sorry. My black lab is 15, and I know she isn’t long for this world. Content to hang out with me all day, but past couple years, sticks close to home.

it won’t be the same, fair winds Cooper.
