What type did you get? I bought the Dewalt 20v cordless. Works okay. Welcome to the FHC happysawer4741 Great to have you!
I got a Milwaukee polesaw and love it, it's amazing, but I have a nuisance limb that's too high. I am going to rope that baby like described in here.
Since i was close to the house i just bought a Sun Joe 115/120 cord type, came with an Oregon 10 inch Bar, since had never used one before was not really ready for a 90 pound branch to fall right on top of me standing below, next thing i knew me and Sun Joe were both laying on the ground looking up. Hey i never even heard them words "INBOUND" guess am a little hard hearing today.
That-all, or mark off the area below that limb, and dont go there for anything until you see that limb on the ground. Did that once, saw the limb, looked up, and saw another one up there, waiting for me to walk under it. OR: Pooh-logic, his instructions to Tigger regarding heffalumps going something like this: they like to hide in trees, and if you look up, they'll fall on you. (So dont look up and you'll be fine) Sca
Back in 2007 during an ice storm this limb fell maybe 15 seconds after me and my dear old Bird Dog Missy, were walking under this tree. This tree is not even in my yard belongs to family next door. Never owned a chainsaw or had any idea how to use one, grand Paw and my Father used two man saws and axes, i just owned axes until then, bought the only chainsaw left in store a PoulanPro 18 inch and am lucky to be alive and still have legs as i got no advice and after about an hour getting saw running just went out and started cutting both this limb and many in the next yard. That was long ago today i don't do any cutting with my chainsaws, without my safety hard hat and wrap around chaps.
In 2007 i was living in Oklahoma. and in Oklahoma and even today you don't go out to cut firewood, without having an AR or AK handy if you want to keep all your stuff and your life.
It's unusual for him, for sure, because I am 200 miles north and it's pretty rare here but when I was a kid and on into college age, it happened quite often. The climate at my locale has most def warmed during my lifetime. We used to get iced in for several days at a time. As for Houston, craziest thing is that in 2004, the area to the near southwest of him got a foot of snow. And... it was Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. How unreal! That was one for a lifetime.
Welcome to FHC. You'll like it here. Great group of knowledgeable people who are willing to share. We like beer dogs and pics. Lots of pics.
Thank you and think i have found the right place, and trust me it took many and i mean like 25 trys to get past them pictures you have to match when registering. But feel it was worth the effort.
local news just happened on Sunday (29) HARTFORD — A man died after a large branch fell on him Sunday during a tree-trimming job at his state Route 7 home. Armando I. Acevedo, 36, was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m. by emergency responders from Brookfield Fire Department, according to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office. Trumbull County 911 received a call at 2:35 p.m. of a traumatic injury at 2061 state Route 7. Dispatchers advised first responders a man was in a tree cutting it down when a large limb struck him, making him unresponsive. Acevedo’s wife told deputies he was cutting a limb down in their back yard and it broke, striking him in the back, right shoulder and head. At the time, Acevedo was stuck between his ladder and the tree limb about 20-feet off the ground. The woman said she called 911 after her husband became unresponsive.
