NE Ohio is getting hammered. I left 8+ inches of blowing snow at work in Geneva at 2 pm to come home. Wind high. Lake angry 6-8 footers. But the beautiful lake temperature makes my backyard an oasis. Burning maple and oak.

I actually thought about asking you how it looked. I had seen that you were supposed to get a surprise from the weather.

Stay safe; hunker down by the fire! :handshake:

Oh yeah. I am in Chardon and we had about 12-16 inches of snow here. The roads are mostly clear so that is good. There were a lot of people without power today too. I am grateful for my stove.

I have some hawthorne trees in at the moment and some beautiful maple ready to go in.

29* out 65* in....I didn't load the stove full yesterday morning and I should have. It was cold and windy all day. I've been trying to catch up.

Cherry, red maple and elm for this morning.

29 here and just fed the furnace some maple. Transitioned from the stove to the furnace yesterday. Little later than I usually do!

17F and 68F. Turned up the air and fans a bit as 68F feels brrr chilly! Another brilliant moon overnight. Heavy frost this am. A couple jet contrails in the sky which is rare. Guess a few folks are still airborne.

Not very cold at 36F. Just brought the stove back to life with a small load of beech, spruce, red and sugar maple. Choked down the air and letting it go for the day.

21 here. Loaded the boiler with a bunch of poplar 1" board scraps last night....expected to have next to nothing left this AM...ended up with a bed of coals about 8" deep. Threw a couple small cherry rounds on there to try to help it burn down some.

Last spring I replaced 14 windows in the house and I can really tell a difference in how much wood I'm using.

About 36 degrees this morning, now it's about 43. I am burning a little bit of Pin Oak, mostly. It felt good to build up the fire a little this morning but then it gets too warm if you're not careful. I went and fed cattle, wearing a vest and coat, and my usual felt hat and silk bandanna to guard against the wind chill from the the side by side. After I got done, I felt the need for a little exercise and went to check on some Black Locust I had cut a few weeks ago, but had not split yet, since I was over in that vicinity.

I decided since I had my axes and splitting maul in the back, I would just split a few sticks for fun and to get limbered up. But splitting wood by hand is addictive for me and I ended up removing my coat and vest, and even my hat before I got done. I was working in my shirt sleeves and sweating before I got done, but I split the whole tree up, Probably a rick, (face cord) to you northerners. I got done just as it started to rain. Perfect timing. :)

Forgive me I fast forwarded a few weeks of this thread. Anyone by you have their shantys parked on the lakes? We are still open water down here. I'd say it's been warm for us for this time of year.

Looks like above freezing temps for highs through next week Fri. After that, below freezing temps will be the highs.
