    His name was Marion, and he changed it to John. I can say it was a good choice, of course I'm slightly biased.

    Same here in Maine, NH, and Vermont. Big log drives every spring.

    You can still see the remnants of the log drives in the rivers still. All the rock piles they built to attach the booms to will be here longer than us.

    Kennebec just leaving the mill heading north there is a ton that stretches for several miles as well.

    Yep... always wondered why the old logging stuff has been left in the Kennebec below Hallowell. Can't be helpful when the river ice is breaking up in the spring.

    Especially being in the headwaters of Merrymeeting Bay. That’s got some ripping current down that way.
