Or should it read borers on my handle??? Went to grab one of my sledgehammers yesterday and noticed this. I had repurposed a broken handle onto this head so there's no finish on the wood.
It was a clean snap that i planed and sanded to a taper to fit in the eye. They mustve smelled the hickory.
Use to use linseed on wood ladders and hated how long it took to dry. This was the boiled type too. I have some...mebbe ill try it out.
