Went to my dealer to buy some of the good stuff. Chainsaw dealer. What were YOU thinking? Chains, parts and premix fuel. Anyway these guys have been Dolmar dealers since forever, now selling Makita since they dropped the Dolmar name. Of course we got to shooting the bull and he mentioned that Makita will allegedly be dropping all of their gasoline engines in the next 12-18 months. That means no more Makita chainsaws except for the battery versions. That means Dolmar effectively disappears entirely. There are talks about taking on Stihl. Nothing set in concrete yet. I mentioned Echo but he says they play games with their dealers. At least if he takes on Stihl, it will be the full commercial line including the big saws, the brush cutters and big backpack blowers, etc. All the good toys. I hope that at the least I can continue to get parts for my Dolmars in the future, but it may well turn out that I will have to either go back to Stihl or switch to Echo saws. So much good written about the Echo line, and they have a solid history. So for those of you who are loyal to the Dolmars and Makitas - your loyalty is worth nothing to the company. Keep that in mind when you are shopping for your next saw.
The echo stuff is great. I’m still loving my 590. I still think it’s the best bang for buck on the market right now.
