I struck gold with a tree service. They prepare wood nicely. They help load. They only ask that I take quality tree woods. In the past couple weeks they have provided me approximately 20 cord of wood. The latest being a 9 cord Douglas fir tree. This is why we are different on the west coast PNW. We survived loading these rounds in my trailer up the ramps but I said that’s it. So they blocked down the even bigger rounds for me! They were approaching 60” near the stump.
That stuff looks so good! I don't know what it is, but straight grain wood chunked into splits just has a certain appeal to it.
I looked and he mentioned douglas fir. Then I looked at the pictures and didn't see any oak. Oak would be a lot more rare in the PNW than douglas fir. Still, great BTU's though, and both split easily. I'd take that in a heartbeat. Awesome score!
Like buZZsaw BRAD said, at first glance the rounds did look oakey. They certainly split nice and clean like oak.
