    So it's really had 3 summers on it...that's when the bulk of the drying occurs anyways...and explains why yours is good too go.

    Same genus, but 2 different species. Willow Oak (Quercus phellos) is fast growing and will dry faster than Northern Red Oak(Quercus rubra). The only 2 Red Oaks that I’m aware of are Northern and Southern.
