ErikR When you start using the Mystik oil, please give a review on it. I have a Blain's Farm and Fleet close to me.

Traverse City the Blain's and TSC within a half mile. 9 times out of 10 TSC is cheaper for what I go there for. Blain's is great for footwear here.

I was busy most of the day, but I had a little time left this evening to try out the Mystik B/C oil. I drained the oil tank on my Husqvarna 450 and refilled it with the new oil. The first thing I noticed was how much darker the Mystik is compared to what I had been using, but it's not like the color matters... They both felt really tacky and sticky on my fingers and the rag I used to clean up my spills.

Then it was time to put the loader on the tractor, grab a chain and my tongs, and drive out to the oak top that snapped off last winter. I limbed it, then bucked into 16" pieces. It was only about 10 inches in diameter, and the last cut or two from the snapped end the wood was kind of punky, but wood is wood. I loaded the wood in the bucket and stacked it by the garage.

There's still a long section of trunk left to take down, but I was rapidly running out of day light.

The saw was thoroughly warmed up but the bar never seemed to get all that hot, so I guess everything was ok. When I was putting my saw away, I opened the oil tank and looked inside, the oil was down about 3/4" from the top so I know the Mystik was being used... I'm not a bar oil brand snob so I guess I'm happy. I just need to cut more wood..

Had a beautiful sunset and a frosty beverage afterwards.

Thanks ErikR Beautiful sunset today down here as well.
The Mystik is half the price of the Stihl oil I have been using.

It sounds like the great bar oil shortage of 2020 is thankfully in the past! I know I am stocked up with about 5 gallons or so but that won't last long once I get cutting again which shouldn't be too long. Comforting to know plenty of cheap stuff is available again.

Was in my Stihl shop today. Only thing left was a gallon of Stihl winter grade bar oil. As I was paying my bill a guy walked up and plunked it on the counter and asked if they had any more. Nope!. Not sure when they were getting any. I'm stocked up so not to worried.

STP, Motor Honey are two that I know of. That said I have used straight 30 wt many tines with no ill effect.

Will the high viscosity additives ( STP, Motor Honey) to 30w do the job as sticky ?
Mystik looks like Grade B maple syrup we have.

Went to Menards yesterday for some of the Poland Pro oil. Store did not have it but had the Mystik for the same $4.50 each minus the 11% rebate. Picked up 10 gallons so should be good for years to come.

Stopped by my local Tsc last weekend and low and behold they had their bar oil in stock for 6.59 a gallon. It had been several months since they had it in a stock. Picked up four gallons to add to my hodge podge of other brands.

    Will try it.
Click and Clack used to love Motor Honey.
But then, most don't drive 10 + year old vehicles anymore ( this: 2005 Outback 210,436 miles ).

Me neither, most of mine are 20 to 30 years old, except for one 2104 Chevy pickup. :)

I am currently using supertech bar oil and it’s keeping the chain on my 261 old school wet.
The spout on the jug is not user friendly, so I won’t get it again, but it flows like 10w30 and might be repackaged 10w30.

I was in my workshop the other day and "found" a gallon of TSC bar oil i didnt know i had. It was on the bottom shelf so couldnt see it. Now have three plus gallons on hand. Should keep me cutting through the Winter...provided we dont get snowed in.

I bought 4 quarts of an "all season bar oil" at my local gas station and feed store. It was a little higher then the Tractor supply stuff, which they sold also, and I had been using it all summer and fall. I think this all season oil is a little thinner and might flow a little better, but I have hardly used it, yet.

Has anyone used the winter weight stuff? Trying to find the temperature recommendations. The stihl winter oil is 14.50 at my preferred dealer, just gets higher the larger the stores get as backwards as that sounds.

I use the winter grade. I use it when temps get down below freezing.

I used to buy summer oil and winter oil,but a couple years ago switched to all-season. I buy Husqvarna all-season by the case for about eight dollars a gallon. I know I could save a little money buying off brand bar oil but I think the name brand oil is a little cleaner.
