    I cut this Maple because my daughter wanted a nice board for people to sign at her wedding. I got a few slabs (freehand lol) from the butt that had some figuring left over and was wondering if anybody could tell me about them and the figure in it . Thanks

    Looks like Birdseye figuring to me. Almost burl like. If you sand through all the grits and apply the right finish, it will highlight that figuring. It’s beautiful! BLO is part of my recipe and if you want color, use an analine dye lightly and sand, re-apply and sand etc till you get the desired color, then BLO.

    I sanded it down with a finer grit later. I had to plane some since I don’t have a mill and I’ll try some BLO I’ve been using Watco teak oil. Thanks!
