Thought you guys might like to see a slightly different take on a maul. This beast was born out of frustration and necessity and has become my go-to splitting maul for all the gnarliest of wood.

A hex bar is welded in the head and the SST tube handle is plug welded on the hex bar and welded on the head. A hockey tape grip because anything else is sacrilegious. She'll ring your bell a bit if you handle it on a split, but she'll blast through anything else like butter.

Looks bad a$$! What’s the head weigh? How long is the handle?

Its an 8 pound head. I mostly went by feel on the handle, but its roughly around 36" or so.

I love the tape grip. Brought back memories from years ago.

Here is one I bought at a swap meet.
The handle came from a pallet but it broke and I replaced it with a shovel handle which has held up much better.
    It is a true temper.

Here it is with the updated handle. Some parachute chord for the handle also.
