I bought one from Woodstock a couple years ago for my AS and it was a condor. Took it out of the box and unscrewed the nut on the AS and inserted it. Took 2 minnutes.

We have a Progress Hybrid. We bought an Absolute Steel to use as a second stove, but decided to not install it. Originally from Maine, we moved back east to Vermont to be near family while raising our kids.

We are friends with the deli owners, and often make a Sunday morning trip. I do hope you’ll have a minute or more to stop by here one of these days!

I will msg me your tell number so I can call first. First time I came into the Chester I was heading to Manchester. Rt 11 was construction for 20+ miles or so. Not the fun ride it used to be. But looking forward to it being repaved. So went by your place to go into Ludlow then took a left south down to 155 and then west on 155 to 140 into Wallingford.

It was early October, during the week, the foliage was peak, that 155 was the prettiest 20 miles I did all year.

What length? I have seen 7" and 4" I believe mentioned for the AS. Had a couple of a Blaze King Princess but gave them away last fall.

I haven't measured it, but it is at least 7 inches. It goes from the outside (left side) stove wall through to the hole in the hood scoop to sit in front of the output of the CAT. I'll measure it when I go downstairs.

    just measured. 8.5 inches

Tx. Figured it would be the 7+ inch Condar. Time to do some shopping from the chair...

Also, mind if I ask... what sq footage do you heat with your AS? Curious.

I have 2 stoves, it's a large (cape style home) called a New England Chalet as it has a cathedral ceiling on one side and a loft on the other. It is 1600 sq ft and easily heat that with the Fireview I have in the living room/kitchen area. The Absolute Steel is down in the basement which at one time was my work-at-home office. It's only 800sq feet but I leave the cellar stairs door open and let the heat come upstairs in very cold below zero weather. I really only have it there for occasional sue these days. The AS could easily heat the whole house but I got the Fv first and I love the Fv look in our living room, The AS is a heating monster and has incredible burn times.

Here's an interesting video I did 4 years ago on election night you might enjoy if you are a AS owner or considering one.

data can help you know you are getting max efficiency and/or improve on technique . Both are wins.
Or you can plod along blind to the science that is available to the layman.
They are both acceptable life choices.

Update on Absolute Steel stove. Acquired the Absolute Steel stove a little over a year ago and ran it for 2/3rds of last season. Now embarking on this second season in Colorado.

I have had several wood stoves in the past. Have cut and split (almost all by hand) for 3 decades. Countless cords. Very familiar with wood types, wood characteristics, etc etc, from my area. Recently had a high end cat stove that just didn’t run well in this house. Had smoke emissions leaking into the house creating health issues and pulled my hair out for a season trying to solve it. Never did. Had to part ways.

So in came the Absolute Steel. The AS was and continues to be a dream. 1800 sq ft 1907 Victorian house. Mostly tight, drafty here and there. And the AS handles it with ease. Could easily see it handling another two or three rooms and sq ft. The burn times have been fab. Have been in teens and 20s, which I consider balmy. Some single digits and below... then I guess I consider it a little nippy.

Rarely do I fill up the firebox. Don’t need to. I get 12-14 hours no problem. 16-18 hours if I fill the firebox. And it maintains even heat production almost through the burn cycle. Fantastic. And this is by far the best, most accessible stove for maintenance I have owned. Sooooo much easier than anything I have had before. And am burning easily 40+% less wood than all other stoves, incl the high end cat stove which was a great stove, just never ran right.

And yes, the missus loves the smaller footprint and appearance. The prior stoves felt a bit bulky for the space. Conversely, the AS looks like a well fitting piece of decorative furniture. Quite amazing the heat output for the long burn times, on the smaller firebox and form factor.

So yeah… thrilled with this Absolute Steel. What would I have changed about my acquisition? I would have acquired one or two more decorative panels to change things up, for the missus. Still may.

    Great stove.

Post a pic or two of your setup. Good to hear all the positive feedback on this model that hasn't gotten the coverage of the IS yet.

That’s an excellent update OldColo. Glad you are enjoying your AS! Sounds like another great product from WS that performs as it should. Welcome to the club!
