Good for him and good for you. It keeps him away from those gadgets and those video games. I reward my 3 kids after they stack the wood when I bring it home. Every Monday morning they ask me are we doing the wood today. Few bucks adds up. Good to hear stories like this

Pretty cool. Learns the value of a dollar and the work that goes into it.

We live in a neighborhood with no through traffic. I never imagined it would turn into this.

I agree 100%. I think many many have the full potential, but lack the parental leadership needed to bring out their full potential.
With that said, way to go dad!

Amen to this. Parents can be (usually are) the demise of the wayward child. But it's great to see your son working hard and looks like he's very happy as well!

We let him spend a little on Nerf guns or random toys once in a while. He did buy his electric dirt bike which was $250 used and he loves it. Other than that, it all goes into the bank which we then move into an investment fund for him (we have a good friend who does that for a living so she invests it). Right now he owns stock in Apple and Tesla as well as some other tech funds. This kid is going to have quite the nest egg when he graduates high school. Ultimately, he knows he has to buy his first vehicle and I'm hoping he doesn't want something too new or expensive even though he will be able to afford it.
