Scored some sweet ash, 4 truckloads worth last week. It is so nice hauling wood with a good rig. I cut and hauled 3 loads on Friday, and the last one Saturday. It was nice to be able to split off the tailgate. Gas mileage isn't too bad either. 80 miles total of hauling up and down country roads, and just under a quarter tank used. I can live with that. 20201023_131003.jpg 20201023_133556.jpg 20201023_143234.jpg 20201023_163656.jpg 20201023_163707.jpg

    Nice work!!

I upgraded from a car to a pickup truck when I was 18. I’ve never not had a pickup since. I literally couldn’t live my life without my truck. Whether it’s hauling firewood, ATV’s, dirt bikes, tools etc. - or towing my camping trailer up Vail pass. Having a truck is a no brainer for me.

I’m glad the new ride is working out for ya!

I guess I’ve never realized that I’ve always had a pickup too. When you live in a rural area there is basically no other vehicle choice. I bought a new snowblower the other day when Bomgaars had there 20% off sale. Just loaded it in the box and brought it home.

Ahhh, the younger days, without a truck. Trying to stuff a fully assembled grill into the trunk of a car, tying mattresses to the roof, and I vaguely remember hauling a bit of firewood for camping or the backyard pit.

My first vehicle was a pickup truck. Cargo vans can also be pretty handy.

Mine was a 93’ F150 with a straight six and manual tranny. Hard to even find a stick shift now. I paid cash for it saving up since I was a kid, working summers and weekends for my father. Lots o fun times in that truck ;)

A lot better than hoarding with an suv for sure! Driven a truck since a teen and like others have said i couldnt live without it. My 2008 i bought 3 years ago and i work the hell out of it.
BTW you find out who your friends are when you own a truck.
    BTW again...some nice looking firewood.

Need more wood...She is begging to be worked again this weekend. My arm can't say the same, though. Pulled my lower bicep. Hard to pick anything up certain ways. Hopefully my boy will be able to help if our football season ends Friday night. Now off to the marketplace to see if anything new is posted.

That’s awesome! I’ve yet to come across ash. All the tree companies hang on to it in my area.

Scores have been rare in my area, and when they do come up, you better be there that day. I have seen big stuff that was hard to get out gone in a day.

Same here. If I see Black Locust or something hard to come by “near” me I jump on it. May not see it again for several months. Some scores I’ve driven up to 45 minutes to get. I want to try out different types of wood. Scores that far I try to maximize loads which for my current setup is about 3/4 cord. My family laughs. “Don’t you have enough wood?” Never!!!!
