I had put 2 tons on layaway and yesterday picked them up. Softwood and really hoping they will be fine on my unit.
I don’t believe so Geek. MWP is in Athens Maine. NorthEast pellets are made in Ashland, Maine. Also, I don’t believe those are softies....does it say they are?
Yes, the bag says softwood. Their hardwood is their typical blue letters bag, this softwood is all yellow.
Wait, I take it back.....looking at this pic I posted I don't see softwood but the guy at the store told me those are softwood but I guess I never paid attention to read the bag, will check the bag now...
Looking closer, no mention of softwood, the pellets seem like softwood due to the light yellow color.
The bag says "white wood" I got a ton last month. They were not out on the sales floor at the time and I had to pay before they would bring them out from the back. Last year the TSC softies were Virginia Gold(aka EZ Blaze). I wasn't too happy when they rolled these out to my truck.
I think they say white wood because they claim that there is no bark at all in their product. The reason I don’t think they are softies is because most softwood pellet manufacturers emphasize the fact that they are softwood. Nothing on the bag or on their website says softwood. JMHO. I could be all wrong too.....
I don't feel they are Softies either. I'm at least hoping they are a blend. I opened a bag and not feeling warm and fuzzy that these are going to be any good.
I tried those last year from Lowes . They look just like Lacretes but don't be fooled . They were bad !
These come up every year. Russell summed it up nicely. Last I knew they were recycled kiln dried 2X4's and weren't dried any more than the kiln drying so the moisture content was quite high.
I also grabbed some of these last season, and they were not good. The bags that remain are in the litter box pile. Hope they perform better for anyone that gets some this season.
If you watch the video on their website, the narrator states the pellets are a blend. Northeast Pellets, LLC – Premium wood pellets made from 100% bark-free wood in Ashland, Maine – 207-435-6230
I stopped in TSC, Putnum yesterday. They have 10 or 20 ton of MunuteMan DF's on hand but the price is high, I think the guy told me about $7.50 a bag. They have had them for a couple weeks and have only sold a handful of bags... Yes, bags, not ton. I guess DF's are a bit to pricey for a discount type store.
Actually they are $7.99 a bag and they have been there for 3 months. Suspect they will begin to move move if the store sells out of $4.99 pellets during a polar vortex.
