My arborist firewood connection dropped off about a half a truckload of seasoned apple wood a few days ago. Just got around to splitting it. He's actually dropped off about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cord of apple throughout the summer that I've gradually been splitting and stacking. He has been cleaning up some dead apple trees in an apple orchard for a customer and giving me the wood. I'm looking forward to burning it this winter. Here's the small amount that I just split. Anyone have any experience with apple?

One of the best! I save it for smoking (cooking) fuel. I have other wood for heat, but it’s fantastic for that as well.

  5. not me but 1 im always on the lookout for some and 2 id imagine its every bit as good as peach tree wood

Not much experience with it, except in small chunks, in the smoker.

Sold a bit over the years. People wood drive a long way to get it for there smokers and such. I love the smell and like Horkn save it for the holiday's. It can be a pain to split because of how the tree's are pruned. The Wood Wolverine is the fruit wood specialist.

Had a good amount of it a few years ago and loved it. Saved some for the smoker.

Lucky you! The Orchards in this area want a small fortune for their apple woood. $50 for a small crate of it and most is small stuff with twists and knots. Very popular for those using it for their smokers.

Yeah. None of this wood is straight grained. But it’s a breeze to split with my 28 ton splitter. It’s cheating, I know:smoke:

It always burns better than it splits.

That and the splits are almost always gnarly looking. It's a pain to stack.

As others have said, it’s great. All of the apple I have is also quite knotty and doesn’t stack very well. Enjoy it.
