Good to know, but there are a few hikes in AZ and UT with my name on them. Maybe on my drive back I'll see what TN and KY have to offer.
Yeah, priorities I suppose, and life situation/personal choices. As someone that would be considered "high paid" within the blue collar world, I also have a spouse that's a full-time homemaker, and 4 children at home (2 sons, 2 stepdaughters). If I was a DINK (dual income-no kids) maybe I wouldn't mind dropping $80k for a truck but that doesn't make sense for me in my situation. I suppose also I could afford one if I wasn't saving for my kids' future, or not paying extra towards my mortgage every month... Again, priorities and personal choices. To me it's not worth the monthly payment. If you use your truck to make money, be it towing things, moving material, plowing/landscaping etc. maybe it does make sense to invest in an expensive new truck. As for young guys that still live at home and decide to bury themselves with massive vehicle debt... good luck to them, their girlfriends, and their parents.
Funny I know guys just like this. Except their SINK's. lol Wonder why My ex BIL comes to mind. 41 years old, lives with mommy and daddy, but at least he has a 70k truck, and will only drink $5/can Treehouse beer that you have to wait in line at the brewery. I like when they make fun of my little 30k Frontier. It may not be the biggest, baddest truck on the block, but it gets used as a truck 10x more than their big V8does. I hope a real life struggle never comes their way, they'll crumple like a bag of chips.
