Friend had a decent sized Red Oak in his backyard that needed to come down so another mutual friend & I went to work. Limbing it up. 55' lift & 80' of tree. We roped it off above the V & took the winch to it. Top down, cleaned up underneath & then dropped the pole. Gonzo making the face cut for the final drop. Some friends dropped by to see the action. They got a quick ride in the lift & my tractor. Tree down safely & just over a cord of wood. Got two more loads to haul in the morning.
That was a pretty tall yard tree, you had a good plan, and executed it spot on. Great job amateur cutter !
No Brad, just a rental, don't tempt me LOL. They do have some good quality stuff, haven't had any issues with them or their machines. It was a tall tree, those homes back up to a nice little woods that's been left as a buffer zone to another road. The lots go into the woods a little ways. Some pretty nice trees in the little wood lot. $ 300.00 for 24hrs. It certainly did when the wind started. Bucket was swaying pretty good.
The bucket job i did in the Spring was a breezy day. Good gust came through when i was ready to top the tree. Dead spruce. Buckets i can get only go to 35-40'. How many have you done?
amateur cutter the only problem I see is the trimming job. Why not closer to the tree rather than having those knots sticking out.
Expediency, wind & weather were getting worse as we went. Jim just cut the limbs where he could without too much maneuvering. That lift is fairly slow & we needed the tree down. Never kept a good count. I'd guess no more than maybe 40-50 in my life. I don't mind bucket work, but the guy up there is a full time firefighter & is really good in a bucket. We went to school together & he went to the fire dept right outta school. Good man!
That's the Achilles heel of those tow behind lifts. Also why the rental yards love them! Nice work Adam.
